Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch

Health Promotion Branch The goal of the Physical Activity and Nutrition Branch is to build healthy communities and promote healthful living, with particular focus on physical activity and healthy diets.

 

Primary Activities

* Help organizations understand that the decisions they make can affect the community's health, including the food they serve, whether or not to create bike paths or install or remove cigarette machines in work places.
* Design and implement programs that create healthful living and help reduce risk of diseases, and train communities to use them.
* Analyze policies and norms to determine the impact they have on choosing healthy behaviors.
* Help neighborhoods develop community organizational and advocacy skills to bring about changes they want in order to sustain healthy communities and productive citizens.
* Form partnerships with other health care providers, schools, workplaces, churches, community leaders and community organizations to bring about changes in the community.
* Provide health education consultation, technical assistance and training services.
