Local Health Services Section
Local Health Services exists to strengthen the capacity of North Carolina local health
departments who, through local programs and services, strive to create healthy people and
communities in North Carolina. Local Health Services serves as liaison with local health
departments for general problem solving and technical support.

Primary Activities
 | Help local health department to respond proactively to their changing environment |
| Support development of Healthy Carolinians task forces in every county |
| Provide statewide activities to assure that every resident of North Carolina is aware of
the role and value of public health in ensuring health and quality of life |
| Assure that continuing education and training is available to public health workers to
enable them to perform their jobs at an optimum level |
| Assist every local health department to operate at its optimum level of efficiency and
effectiveness |
| Support every county in conducting a systematic community assessment that directly
engages the community in health improvement processes |
